Entries are open until 8 December 2026 for Spanish and Valencian short scripts, with a DAMA-backed award and an optional route for finalists to reach producers.

Skyline Benidorm Film Festival has opened its 2027 short-film script competition, offering a €1,500 DAMA prize and trophy for the winning screenplay. The new call launched on 5 October, giving writers until 8 December 2026 to enter.

The competition accepts fiction, animation and documentary scripts. It sits within a festival dedicated to short-form cinema, whose eleventh edition takes place in Benidorm, Spain, from 10 to 17 April 2027.

What writers can submit

Scripts must be written in Spanish or Valencian and run to no more than 20 pages, including the cover, in 12-point Courier. Original work and literary adaptations are eligible, and entrants must hold the rights to their submissions.

Each writer may enter up to three scripts. Entry costs €13 for the first, €10 for the second and €8 for the third. The application requires an anonymous PDF screenplay and proof of the entry payment, submitted through the form linked on the festival’s competition page.

An opportunity beyond the award

A professional jury will select the finalists and winner. Skyline also offers finalists the option to publish their scripts on its website, with each author’s permission, so producers can discover the work and approach the writer. Authors can decline this public display.

That visibility is the practical distinction for writers weighing the call: a finalist’s script can remain available to potential collaborators after the competition. It does not amount to a production commitment, and the €1,500 award should not be read as a promise that the film will be financed.

Check the production timing before entering

The 2027 PDF rules say shooting must not have begun before the festival starts. The competition webpage uses a different cut-off, referring to the festival’s end. Writers with filming planned around April should ask the organizer to clarify the applicable date before paying.

Applicants should read the full rules, prepare their anonymous PDF and submit by 8 December. The winner will receive the award at the festival’s final gala.
