The Thailand-based festival is accepting climate-focused shorts until 31 January 2027, with separate routes for Asian productions and filmmakers worldwide.
Changing Climate, Changing Lives (CCCL) Film Festival has opened submissions for its 2027 edition. The call began on 5 October, giving filmmakers almost four months to enter work exploring the impacts of climate change.
Presented by the Tonkla Rak Lok Foundation, the festival will take place in Bangkok and selected Thai cities in June. Its FilmFreeway listing specifies 16–20 June 2027.
Two routes for short filmmakers
The Asian Short Film Competition accepts films produced or co-produced in Asia that run under 15 minutes, including titles and credits. Entries must have been completed after 1 January 2024. There is no premiere requirement, and non-Thai-language films need English subtitles.
The Global Shorts programme accepts climate-related films from around the world running under 40 minutes. Selected films receive a screening fee, although the public call does not specify an amount.
That distinction gives filmmakers two different opportunities: a competitive route for eligible Asian productions and a paid screening route with wider geographical eligibility.
Awards and entry costs
The Asian competition offers documentary and non-documentary awards, including THB 50,000 Grand Jury Prizes, alongside other jury and special prizes.
FilmFreeway lists Asian competition entry as free through 31 December, rising to US$5 at the extended deadline, with student entry remaining free. Global Shorts standard entry is US$5 through December and US$10 during the extended period.
What filmmakers should do next
The final deadline is 31 January 2027; the festival website specifies 11:59 pm Pacific Standard Time. FilmFreeway lists selection notification for 30 April.
Filmmakers should check runtime, production eligibility, subtitles and rights clearances before submitting. They should also review the screening and promotional license terms carefully. The call offers a focused audience for climate stories, with enough lead time to prepare a considered submission.
