Kurzfilm Festival Hamburg has opened submissions for its 2027 edition, giving international short filmmakers four months to enter work for one of Germany’s longest-running festivals dedicated entirely to the short form.

Films across all genres, countries of origin and formats are eligible for the festival’s main competitions, provided they meet the relevant runtime and completion-date requirements.
For the International Competition and German Competition, films can run for a maximum of 30 minutes and must have been completed on or after 1 January 2026.
Submission Fees Rise Across Three Windows
Filmmakers submitting between 1 and 31 October 2026 pay an early-bird fee of €12. The regular fee rises to €15 for submissions made between 1 November and 31 December. Entries submitted during January cost €20, with the final deadline falling on 31 January 2027.
The exception is the Triple Axel Competition, which remains free to enter.
