The festival’s 16th edition runs from 5–7 November, pairing short-film screenings with conversations about documentary funding and cross-border production.

The GuadaLAjara Film Festival has unveiled its 2026 programme, with short films joining industry discussions and community events across Los Angeles from 5–7 November.

The announcement places emerging and established short-form voices within the festival’s wider focus on Latin American cinema and BIPOC communities in the United States. For filmmakers following the regional circuit, it also offers a chance to connect on-screen work with practical conversations about making and distributing films.

Shorts across different forms

Among the confirmed selections is Busy Bodies, directed by Kate Renshaw-Lewis. Its miniature workers manufacture rubber gloves in an inefficient domestic factory, watched over by enormous hands.

Gabriela Ortega’s Marga en el DF, also presented as Marga in Mexico City, follows a woman who is 21 weeks pregnant as an unexpected development disrupts a surprise visit to Mexico City.

La Mar, directed by Jean Chapiro, turns to a Gulf of Mexico fishing community threatened by the advancing sea, where a woman leads efforts to relocate.

Beyond the screenings

The programme also includes discussions addressing documentary funding, distribution and public policy, alongside US–Mexico co-production. These add a practical industry dimension beyond the opportunity to see new work.

GLAFF is presented by the University of Guadalajara Foundation USA, the Guadalajara International Film Festival, the Grodman Legacy and the University of Guadalajara.

Planning a visit

The 16th edition takes place at venues across Los Angeles. The festival’s official website carries its schedule, individual film pages, and links to Eventive ticket and pass booking.

Check the screening-specific listing before making arrangements: venues and admission options vary across the programme. Further participating talent and events are still to be announced.
