Everything You Need To Know About SXSW Online 2021 Shorts Special - Indie Shorts Mag

After its first no-show in 34 years last year, SXSW Film Festival has gone online. The all-virtual event is set to occur over five days, from March 16-20, with its entire lineup available online to passholders. Read on to know everything you need to attend the historical SXSW Online 2021.

SXSW Online will be an entirely digital event, featuring premieres and screenings (which include feature films, shorts, episodics, and XR projects), conferences, keynote addresses, and more.

The entire programme boasts 84 short films, including music videos, 5 episodic premieres, 6 episodic pilots, 20 virtual cinema projects, 14 title design entries, and 30 special events. Check out the entire lineup here.

Passholders can begin to build up their schedule immediately. Films will be released in two-hour increments each day from 10 AM to 8 PM CT. While some films may be subject to capacity limits (a minimum of 2000 views), many are not. Once a film is available, it remains so until it hits capacity or the event ends. While many features are subject to geoblocking in accordance with screening rights or distributor discretion, all short films are to be available globally.

To attend, individuals must register online. While the standard price is $325, discounts are available for students and groups.

Besides this, there is also SXSW EDU Online, an online event from March 9-11 which includes conference programming, networking opportunities, etc. To check it out, visit SXSW.
