ArtHouse Jersey and the 13th Parish Jersey International Film Festival are accepting applications until 1 December 2026 for a production award supporting filmmakers with a Jersey connection.

Applications are open for the Jersey Short Film Award, a new £10,000 opportunity for early- and mid-career filmmakers. Launched on 16 October 2026, the award combines production funding with mentorship and a premiere at the 13th Parish Jersey International Film Festival in May 2027.

ArtHouse Jersey and the festival are jointly offering the privately funded award. Applicants must live in Jersey or demonstrate a clear, active connection to the island. Their proposed short should be filmed mainly in Jersey, and production must not have started.

Who can apply?

Directors may apply individually or with a producer and core team, but the director remains the lead applicant and award recipient. Professional credits do not automatically exclude applicants. However, the scheme is not intended for filmmakers who already have a portfolio of funded films with extensive exhibition or distribution.

Only one application is permitted per applicant or team. Employees, board members and immediate family members of either organising institution are ineligible.

What to submit

Applications require a proposal and creative treatment, a script even if still in draft, a production plan, a budget, and a filmmaker CV or biography. Applicants should also explain how their film could reach audiences and support their career development.

The £10,000 can form part of a larger production budget. Any additional cash or in-kind support must be identified, including whether it is confirmed.

Dates and details

Applications close on 1 December 2026. Shortlisting and interviews are scheduled for 7–11 December, with the winner announced on 14 December. The completed film is due to premiere at the festival running 16–23 May 2027.

The published guidelines do not specify an application fee or runtime limit. Filmmakers needing clarification should contact info@arts.je before applying and review the full guidelines, including delivery and payment conditions.
