The Institut Valencià de Cultura (IVC) has opened applications for the first volume of Curts Comunitat Valenciana 2027, its short-film promotion catalogue.
Announced on 21 October, the call closes on 11 November 2026 at 23:59. Entry is free and applications must be submitted online through the form linked from the IVC announcement.
Festival promotion, not production funding
The first catalogue is published in January and can include up to six shorts. Each catalogue receives 12 months of promotion, with the IVC handling submissions to national and international festivals through online platforms.
This is an opportunity for eligible filmmakers seeking support with a film’s festival circulation, rather than a cash production grant. The IVC has a limited budget for festivals that charge entry fees. If a film is selected, its producer or director remains responsible for supplying screening materials and arranging the director’s travel.
Who can apply?
Applicants must hold the rights to the submitted film and meet the programme’s Valencian eligibility requirements. The director must have been born in the Comunitat Valenciana or have been registered as resident there for more than a year, or the production company must have its registered office in the region. For co-productions, the Valencian company must hold at least 50% of the production.
Films must have been produced after 1 February 2026 and run for no more than 30 minutes, including credits. Work-in-progress submissions are permitted if the edit is final and the completed film can be delivered within the selected films’ materials deadline.
Music videos, fashion films, advertising videos, series episodes and television reports are excluded. Films already included in another autonomous community’s promotion catalogue are also ineligible. Restrictions apply to other public or private distribution catalogues, with specified exceptions for sales and fee-charging festivals outside Curts’ promotional remit; applicants with existing distribution arrangements should check the full rules carefully.
Selection and delivery requirements
The jury will assess cinematic quality, originality and prospects for festival selection. The programme considers a film’s previous festival submissions and gives priority to premieres.
Selected teams have ten days from notification to supply the required materials. These include film files, dialogue lists and subtitles in Valencian, Spanish, English and French, alongside publicity materials and supporting documentation. Viewing links submitted with an application must not require a website login or user registration to download.
Read the promotional rights terms
The 12-month catalogue promotion period should not be confused with the rights authorisation. The rules provide for worldwide promotional use for five years from the signing of that authorisation. Selected teams must also use the Curts 2027 logo as required and coordinate their own promotional activity with the IVC.
Entries for the Goya and Lola Gaos awards are not included in the IVC’s promotional service. Selection for Curts should not be presented as an award qualification or a guarantee of festival acceptance.
What to do next
Read the complete first-call rules on the IVC website, confirm regional eligibility and any distribution restrictions, and prepare the online application before 11 November. Teams should plan their subtitle and delivery materials in advance rather than wait for a selection decision.
