Indie Shorts Mag

Privacy Policy

Effective date: September 15, 2026

Indie Shorts Mag (“Indie Shorts Mag”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) operates the Indie Shorts Mag website at https://www.indieshortsmag.com (the “Website”) and the Indie Shorts Mag mobile application for iOS and Android (the “App”). This Privacy Policy explains how information is handled when you use the Website or the App.

At a glance: the App

The App lets you browse Indie Shorts Mag editorial content. It does not require an account or login, and it does not ask for your name, email address, phone number, contacts, photos, files, precise location, or payment information.

The App does not include advertising SDKs, behavioural advertising, analytics SDKs, or a user account system. It does not sell or rent personal information.

Information handled by the App

Content requests and technical information

When the App requests articles, images, categories, tags, or search results, it connects to our content service over HTTPS. As with most internet services, our hosting and security systems may receive technical information sent with a request, such as an IP address, browser or device user-agent information, request time, and the requested URL. We use this information only to operate, secure, troubleshoot, and maintain the service; we do not use it to create advertising profiles.

If you use search in the App, the search phrase is sent to our content service to return matching articles. The App does not create a user profile from searches. Search phrases are not used as persistent cache-key text on the device; a one-way hash is used for the cache key.

On-device content cache

To make the App faster and available when you are offline, the App stores previously loaded editorial content and images on your device. This can include article titles, article text, images, dates, category and tag information, review information, related posts, and cached search results.

This cache stays on your device. It is not an account record and is not transmitted to Indie Shorts Mag merely because it is stored. Cached items may be replaced when content is refreshed or removed when the App’s storage is cleared. You can remove all App cache and locally stored content at any time by clearing the App’s storage in your device settings or uninstalling the App.

Permissions

The App uses internet access to retrieve content and media. It does not request access to your contacts, camera, microphone, location, photo library, or personal files for its normal operation.

Embedded media and external links

Some articles may contain approved YouTube or Vimeo video embeds. Those services may process information, including technical and usage information, when you play an embedded video. Their processing is governed by their own privacy notices:

The App may also open links to the Website, social-media services, or other third-party websites in your device browser or an in-app browser. Once you leave the App or interact with a third-party service, that service’s privacy policy applies. We do not control third-party privacy practices.

Website information

The Website may offer features that are not available in the App, such as newsletters, contact forms, comments, advertising, or links to third-party services. When you voluntarily provide information through a Website form, such as your name or email address, we use it to provide the requested service, respond to your enquiry, or send communications you have asked to receive. You may opt out of marketing emails using the unsubscribe link in those emails or by contacting us.

The Website and its advertising or service providers may use cookies or similar technologies. Browser-based advertising, cookies, and third-party websites are not features of the native App unless you choose to open the Website or another external service.

How we use and share information

We use information described in this policy to:

  • provide, maintain, secure, and improve the Website and App;
  • deliver requested editorial content and search results;
  • respond to enquiries and provide requested communications; and
  • comply with legal obligations and protect our rights, users, and services.

We do not sell, trade, or rent personal information. We may share information with service providers that help us host, secure, operate, or deliver our services, but only as necessary for those services and subject to appropriate contractual or legal safeguards. We may also disclose information where required by law or to protect the safety, rights, and security of Indie Shorts Mag, our users, or others.

Retention and your choices

We retain Website form information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was collected, to meet legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements.

The App does not maintain an account or a central database of App users. Locally cached App content remains on your device until it is refreshed, the App data is cleared, or the App is uninstalled. To request information about or deletion of personal information you submitted through the Website, contact us using the details below. We may need to verify your request before acting on it.

Depending on where you live, you may have legal rights to request access to, correction of, deletion of, or restriction of processing of your personal information. Contact us to make a request.

Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organisational measures designed to protect information. No method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Children

The App and Website are not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.

Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the revised policy at https://www.indieshortsmag.com/privacy/ and update the effective date. Continued use of the Website or App after the revised policy takes effect is subject to the updated policy.
