ONED art/experimental film festival

The ONED art/experimental film festival, established in 2019, is dedicated to pushing the boundaries of cinematic expression by focusing on unconventional imagery, experimental techniques, and extreme themes. With the aim of normalizing the avant-garde, ONED is expanding its reach in 2023 by officially screening its curated selection in both China and France, in partnership with China’s largest experimental culture company and the Toulouse Art Fair, respectively. This collaboration positions ONED as the largest experimental film festival in China, offering a unique platform for creators to present their work to a community of forward-thinking artists and audiences.

ONED’s innovative approach is further exemplified by its collaboration with over 40 livehouses across China, where experimental and avant-garde films are paired with electronic music performances to create a multisensory festival experience for a new generation of creators. The festival invites pioneers in experimental video, VJing, electronic music, and AI to join the celebration and envision the future of creativity together.

The 2024 events are scheduled for August in China and March in France, with additional branch events being confirmed in the UK and New Zealand. Attendees can expect an array of screenings accompanied by live music, as well as activities that embrace unconventional extremes, such as alcohol duels, ancestor worship, and cosplay.

ONED places a particular emphasis on genres like horror, experimental films, VJ and electronic music videos, science fiction, and AI. The festival’s selection process is divided into four stages, beginning with an organizing committee’s curation, followed by votes from a creator jury. The only stipulation for submissions is that the films must be unorthodox, inventive, and daring, reflecting ONED’s commitment to celebrating the bold and the experimental in the world of film.

The AI International Film Festival

Focusing on AI-driven narratives, it delves into themes like biotechnology, social media manipulation, and the ethical implications of AI advancements.

Through its partnership with The AI Project, the festival furthers public education on AI’s potential impacts, hosting bi-annual live screenings in San Diego, California, and Park City, Utah, alongside expert-led panels that provoke thought and discussion. The next much-anticipated live event is set for January 31, 2024, in San Diego.

Celebrating a diverse range of perspectives, the festival recently screened 43 films from 20 countries, with the Audience Choice Winner ‘Enveive’ leading a roster of international and genre-specific award recipients. The festival’s dynamic panel discussions, such as “AI, GPT-4 and the Future of Humans,” offer a platform for global experts to debate AI’s influence on humanity and the arts.
