In less than 11 minutes, Alejandro Montoya Marin manages to punch in reality within a thriller, that is generously peppered with deadpan one-liners and characters, who are easily identifiable. ‘Monday’ is a perfect recipe to beat your Monday blues, to start with! It’s a fast-paced movie, set very much in today’s times with a twist that is least predictable and yet relatable.As the story revolves around the male protagonist Jack, you get to see him navigate through a gamut of emotions which actor Jamie H Jung delivers very finely. The story charts a course around a simple theme of ‘unpredictability’. As a normal working day unfolds with Jim getting fired, it only spells the beginning of doom for him. As the screenplay snowballs into problems of greater magnitude, the audience is riveted with the twists and turns that thickens the plot by the minute.

The music score throughout the film sticks to being upbeat which helps in keeping the narrative rooted to its pace, whilst helping in taking the load off from the seriousness of the scenes. The cinematography and setting of the location does justice to make it believable and perhaps even makes you do a double- take with its natural familiarity.
All in all, Monday is a must watch for all those who’d like their adrenaline race up in ten minutes and at the same time not want the load of it to hit their heads.
‘Monday’ is funny, despite carrying a complex storyline where the story actually reveals how the human mind works when confronted with the least of desired situations.
